Friday Five

I submit, for your viewing pleasure.

Seriously. Don’t you wish Rebecca Black had a song for every day of the week? I don’t think I can speak the word “Friday” without breaking into song. But that’s not why we’re here. It IS Friday and that can only mean one thing -it’s Friday Five time! Let’s get right to it.

Home Improvement Reunion
I’m dying over this image from the upcoming Reunions issue of Entertainment Weekly. Apparently, Patricia Richardson leaked it on Twitter so EW went ahead and posted it online. I’ll now walk you through my initial reactions, in the order of their occurrence:

  • Wow. Al Borland has aged WELL.
  • Why is Janice Dickinson in this picture? Oh, wait. That’s the actress that replaced Pamela Anderson. Meh.
  • Couldn’t Zachery Ty Bryan have shown up sober for this?
  • I’m so glad that Taran Noah Smith outgrew his Goth phase.
  • JTT, man. He’s one good lookin’ hobbit fella.
  • Wait. Was it a requirement that the actors playing the sons go by all three of their names?
I don’t know what the weather in your neck of the woods has been like this week, but in Nashville it’s been really cool – like highs in the low 70’s, cool. I might be the only person that gets seasonal depression during the summer, but the weather this week has definitely reversed that. I was driving around on Tuesday – a day that it rained non-stop – and I couldn’t resist switching from my summer “dirty pop” playlist, back to Mumford & Sons. This is an album that has been in heavy rotation and included on most of my playlists since I started listening to it around this time last year, but I don’t think it’s going out of style anytime soon. Now I just have to get a Caramel Apple Spice from Starbucks and it will officially be Fall!
Okay, I’ll admit that before I watched this video I was all, “Haven’t we seen this before?” And maybe we have, but that doesn’t stop this clip from being super-adorable. Daniel Radcliffe’s FACE, you guys – before he ever considered baring it all on stage. Flavorwire posted the video this week – it’s a part of a longer feature on the Ultimate Edition of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. Yeah, I think I’ll have to own that.
This week I was browsing the watch instantly titles on Netflix and I noticed that several television shows have been added. In a week or so (after I finish Dexter, Season 5), I’ll be downgrading my Netflix plan to just streaming instead of DVD/instant. Since we have a Blu-Ray player that we can access Netflix from and I can stream from my computer and iPad, I don’t really have a need for the DVD’s during the regular television season. Now that they’ve added shows like Louie, Sports Night and Sons of Anarchy this is an even more attractive decision. But you better believe that as soon as the season finales air next May – I’m adding DVD’s back to the package!
It’s important to remember while clicking through this list that it’s a Reader’s Poll. I’m okay with some of the songs on the list (Achy Breaky Heart, Barbie Girl) but I’m outraged that others would be included. I mean, excuse me. Chumbawamba’s “Tubthumping”? “Ice Ice Baby”? “MMMBop”, “My Heart Will Go On”, “Macarena”! (Okay, yeah. Maybe that one.) So, it’s possible that these songs aren’t the best songs ever, but aren’t they kind of iconic 90’s songs? Take a look through the complete list and let us know what you think.

  1. Um, this completely made my day. I loved each and every item on here! And my inner 10-year-old rejoiced at seeing the Home Improvement photo…..especially because of JTT. My room was definitely full his posters from Teen Beat and Bop magazines 🙂
